Some buildings blend into the block. 321 Wythe is not one of them — it's the 19-story tower with the wraparound white façade and the scattered, off-kilter windows that you can't help but look at twice.

Marketed as "The Whyte," it sits on the corner of Wythe Avenue and South 2nd Street, a few blocks off the Williamsburg waterfront. If this week's neighborhood spotlight had a poster child for new-Williamsburg living, this would be it.

The backstory

Here's the fun part: the whole thing is built on land leased from the Saints Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, which relocated nearby to make room. From sacred space to 130 luxury apartments — a very Williamsburg kind of reinvention. Completed in 2018 and developed by Watermark Capital Group, the tower is lifted on columns above a podium, giving it that floating, sculptural look that stands out even in a neighborhood full of new glass.

The amenities

This is where 321 Wythe makes its case. There are two full floors and north of 20,000 square feet of shared space — the kind of amenity package that's become the currency of luxury Williamsburg rentals:

• A gym with a rock-climbing wall, plus saunas and a massage/therapy room.
• Indoor and outdoor screening rooms — yes, two movie theaters.
• A game room with pool, ping pong, air hockey, and shuffleboard.
• A landscaped terrace with cabanas, a fire pit, and gas grills for warm-weather cookouts.
• Work pods, a library, and a business center with a conference room for the work-from-home crowd.
• A 19th-floor rooftop with knockout views of the Manhattan skyline and the Williamsburg Bridge.

The views are the real headliner — high floors look out over the East River, the skyline, the bridges, and even the Statue of Liberty. There's also a 92-car garage, which in this neighborhood is no small thing.

What it costs

The honest cons

• It's expensive. You're paying a premium for the amenities and the views — this isn't a value play.
• Amenity buildings can feel transient. Big luxury rentals turn over more than a brownstone block, so the "neighbor" vibe is different.
• The famous views need a high floor. Lower units miss most of the skyline you're paying for — ask what a specific unit actually looks out on.
• Base rent isn't the whole picture. Parking, amenity fees, and utilities add up on top.
